Hello everyone. I plan on visiting the lovely Savannah this year. I've never been to a blues festival nor a bed and breakfast. I wouldn't mind partaking of those activities. What is there to do and when does it happen?

I wouldn't mind the Civil War sites. The last time I did something like that was 10 years ago. We rode through the east coast into Connecticut and back. Along the way we stopped into Virginia and Pennsylvania. It was interesting to see the wall at Fredericksburg. Gettiesburg was great but creepy. Gettysburg was beautiful but overwhelming. The battlefield was so vast I thought it would never end. I pitty the poor tour guides -they have to talk for hours.

The art district sounds entertaining, too. PM me some info, pleeb :)

If you like civil war stuff, there is a cool place to visit on the way to Tybee Island called Fort Pulaski. It was the first confederate fort to be taken over by the accurate force of union rifled cannon balls from a couple miles away. Plus, I've got 3 free tickets for one of the historic district bus tours that I don't see myself using anytime soon. You, JJ, and Blondie could take the tour while Bast and I visitthe Johnson "art district"

Edit: if you visit Fort Pulaski, go on a Sunday, they don't charge admission on Sundays (most of the time).

So long as they have no objections. I don't think JJ is into the Civil War like I am.

Pinetop Perkins, Willie-Big Eyes-Smith, Napoleon-Nappy-Brown.'

...and this

'Savannah Symphony's Picnic in the Park

Has anyone ever experienced either of these performances?

Also, I'd like to put in another vote for Picnic in the Park...definite kick ass time. Blues festival is cool too...although I'm thinking that is a fall thing. When I lived in Macon, Ga they did the Cherry Blossom festival. Lots of rock bands outside etc. The cool part is how beautiful the cherry blossom trees are around that part of the year. The winds blows and it looks like it's snowing white and pink leaves. Very pretty.

Can't say about Atl, but in Sav if you want to be out and about without sweating your butt off I'd say mid-March or mid-October is your best bet for pleasant weather/temperatures. If you are planning to do the beach thing any of the months in between are good. The ocean on Tybee is usually around 82-85 degrees in July-August.

Click Here (http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/satl.html) for an average water temperature table.

It's a magical, wonderful place of ..... ok scratch that. It looks like Old Saint Nick eats too many burritos and then drops a Christmas bomb off of his sleigh and it lands on this poor sucker's house every year. The sheer amount of lights this person puts in their yard is amazing. I dont know how the power grid can handle it. The guy barely has room to walk through his own yard. Oh, and of course they manage to put their family name "The Roddenberry's" in full lights across their shrubs.

It doesn't matter who you ask, if you just mention the Roddenberry's to anyone who is from Savannah, they instantly know the house you are talking about. If you come during Xmas there would be a lot more fun stuff to do as well :D

Just a warning. I was in a hurry getting to the airport the other day so I just grabbed all my wires (several usb wires, power supply, several serial cables, and several ethernet cables) and shoved them into my bag. Airport security stopped it and said it was a "busy" bag so they poured everything out on the floor and felt me up for a while almost making me miss my plane.

They spent 20 minutes measuring a pair of vice grips I forgot was even in there. No vice grips longer than 7 inches. They spent forever arguing in that was them screwed all the way in or out. After I promised not to use the vice grips to take over the plane they let me go.
