So I surprised Bast this weekend with a valentine's day present. I took him here:
http://www.savannahdayspa.com/
We had an hour in the hydroptherapy lounge all by ourselves. We ended up on the men's side which is darker and a bit more romantic (go figure). We sat in the tub:
http://uselessforums.com/files/120505/banner5.jpg
That is the shape of the tub, but it was more in a corner and darker, with candles, roses, fresh fruit and cheese, whipped cream and strawberries and chocolate. Also wine and water. It was awesome. Very romantic.
Then we put on our robes and went upstairs to our private couples massage. It was great, being right next to each other thourgh out. Then we got to take a shower in this big shower with all these shower heads. It was wonderful :) Plus the smell of the soap and shampoo that they had is very tropical and reminded us of our honeymoon.
I am a good wife :)
So what are your plans for Valentine's day?

Kinda of like my feelings towards bathing.....wait...what?

i don't hate it, but it's not impressive nor important to me. i'd much rather have a random act of kindness/love/appreciation than on some designated day.
what i do use valentine's day for is to make valentines cards and goodies for the ones we love. spangelet and i have been working on cards for two weeks, and tomorrow we are doing cookies, fudge and candy for spange's work and spangelet's friends. the holiday is more an excuse to get crafty more than anything. it's also an excuse to mix pink and red together when making stuff. :fly:

Shawn says V-day is a chicks Holiday. I agree with whomever said that instead of having a designated day, I appreciate random acts of romance or kindness. Asking each other "Where do you want to go" and answering: "I don't care, whatever you want" every year just seems ridiculous to me. Thats a conversation to be saved for a Friday night.

Yes it is nice once in a while, I'm working on him.
As far as Valentine's Day goes, we are going out to eat with my Parents on Tues when we exchange Haylee, than going to Florida, that's kinda taking the disposable budget for the month, but to me it's well worth it.

I've never liked Valentines Day. It's a day the guy kisses the woman's butt and typically no matter what you do they aren't truely satisfied. I typically find it as enjoyable as metal shavings in my eyes.

I just want a little something (like flowers or chocolates) and usually a night alone, either out or in, I'm not picky. It doesn't have to be some huge dramatic event.

I plan on getting her a Kathy Van Zeeland purse she wants, some Chocolates, try to locate some flowers, and trying to set things up to take her out on a very nice dinner date sometime this weekend, depending on when I can find a babysitter.

I understand that some dislike the "holiday" because of past misfortunes. To my understanding, you are married and shouldn't have to worry about her taking advantage of you. Waidaminute, you're married and should be taking advantage of eachother once the kiddies go to bed anyway.
I also understand another argument against it. "Oh it's just some scam brought about my da man to hoodwink us of our hard earned cash." Well, I see V-day ( venarial disease day for you hataz) as a reminder. Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget the ones who make it bareable. Some people aren't as smooth and romantic enough to be spontanious. "I was driving home and saw a flower vender so I bought these for you, hunny." Besides, you can always use it as a "I'm in da moooood, baby. Gimmie, gimmie..." kind of thing. My suggestion, go get a t-shirt that says, "Kiss my _______, it's my birthday." Then walk around the mall. It's sure to get you some attention.

This year it seemed to be the other way around :fly:
That tub was awsome. It had jaccuzi jets and a waterfall return. It was warm and bubbly while we ate whipped cream and strawberries  The massage was great and after we showered all the lotion off, we went back downstairs to put our clothes back on. After getting dressed though, we were stranded in the basement floor for about 15 min cause someone on the 4th floor forgot to close the elevator door all the way and it wouldn't come down, lol. They apologized profusely. Then they called the house yesterday cause JJ forgot to turn in the locker keys
I still haven't given JJ her presents yet, just waiting for the right time. Well, I guess I did give her her dinner present already, which was enough shellfish to feed a small army:

taken in low light on my phone's camera, so it's kinda crappy, but what you don't get a good look at is the freaking 5 lbs of shrimp, crawfish, oysters, sausage, and potatos that were under the crab. Here's what was left after we finished:

There can be very little argument that Valentine's Day isn't created by Hallmark. Just like it is hard to argue against the entire diamond industry being complete crap. (And I'm not even touching the Christmas season)
That being said, people eat it up and enjoy it a fair bit. I say enjoy the ride.

That's why DeBeers aren't allowed in the US. There are outstanding warrants so that if any of the company officers came into the states they could be arrested onsite. :fly:
But yea, the whole diamond market is controlled by how quickly they and a few other mine owners choose to let their stock out to the public.

We are actually doing something nice for 5 of our single girlfriends. We have rented out the dining room at our apartments which is really elegant. My roomie was a chief in a fine dining restaurant so he will be preparing 3 different meals for them to chose from. I will be serving them all dressed up with roses everywhere and all that good jive. They were all upset about not having valentines so we stepped up to the plate cause i love my sisters. :)

Theac does sweet stuff for me all the time, so Valentines isn't necessary. For example, before he leaves for work every morning he puts my coffee in a thermos and sets it by my purse so I have coffee for the day. Now that is love right dur. So Valentines isn't anything special, altho the rack of lamb in port reduction sauce theac made for me last weekend was. :fly:

we can't help but be hectic, it's the nature of our jobs and our personalities. i'm not saying that we choose that over being romantic and fuzzy with each other, but we enjoy ourselves and each other in many different ways. having a date on the calendar set aside for the two of us just makes things a little less complicated from time to time.
on the flip side, i don't understand people who don't make the most of their lives and live it to the fullest by trying to do as much as they can. when i hear about someone being bored, i wonder what's wrong with them.

Everyone bitch's so much about valentines day for a couple of reasons, either your broke or you have noone. Valentines day is just to show appreciation above and beyond the call of duty to people that are special in your life. It really is about the women who love us which is friends/family/girlfriend. We did that whole romantic dinner thing last night and they were all just stunned. We were able to make 5 of our close friends very happy and that is what matters. If your not man enough to show how much you love your girlfriends then your really not a man at all. I will be smiling for weeks just from the happiness I brought them, my friends;)
And then we went and got plastered afterwards!:D

That's what happens when you take time off from work that you don't really have to spare.

i have a simple solution to that dilemma here- don't take any time off. it sucks but it keeps me sane until there's a lull in work and i can take a week off at a time.

I bet ERage can guess what I got :D
My Freshman year of college there was a bunch of us girls that had a couple guys do the same thing. They made us dinner and gave each of us a flower. It was very sweet and a great way to spend Valentine's day when I didn't have an SO to spend it with.

I'd much rather have her take a day off and come down here to play with us! :D

i'm taking two week-long vacations this year. one to disney world at the end of march, and one to Atlanta/Savannah at a yet-to-be determined time. i can't get away for like 3 days at a time without worrying about work and such, it ends up being more stress than vacation.
i hope you get to relax some while you're in TPA!

she works for fox now and we have better babes than her around the building anyway...but, one ex is enough for me in the building ;)
I did send my ex flowers for vday though...she's in houston setting up for the nba allstar game so I surprised her with some flowers at her hotel...we both still are friends and love each other but I don't know if we'll ever be back together again :O
