View Full Version : The Rules: A Proposition

Since theac has given up on you fags, I asked if I could come up with a rules suggestion and he said "Good fucking luck." (Not really)

So anyway, here's the rules as I am suggesting...

Registration requirements back on
meaning no one who simply posts "omg lyke Avril is teh bestest singar evar" will get in

No blatent spam posts or threads
Like my 'HI' thread

No trolling
Unless its directed at Sarcasmo

No racism
Unless its directed at elpmis

NSFW tags on all inappropriate material
Unless its pics of me

Are these okay with you folks? THEN ROCK THE VOTE.

EDIT: a supermajority is required to implement these rules (66%)

trolling - Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can.

Guy: "I just found the coolest ninja pencil in existence."
Other Guy: "I just found the most retarded thread in existence."

it's when you cast a few lines out of the back of your boat and slowly move ("troll") across a body of water catching mad amounts of fish in the mean time.

So, basically the rules are to act as you would during a normal social gathering among friends? Only, bear in mind some people will be reading from the office, so try not to get them in trouble. Right?

How, exactly, is this different from before?

taeric
02-04-2006, 12:15 AM
I voted no for two reasons. A) Everyone else pretty much voted yes. I figured No wasn't getting enough respect. And 2) If we are going for more of an informal set of rules, I'm not really sure we need a formalized version of them. A simple rule of, "be civil" would most likely suffice. And if civil is cannibalism, then keep in mind that I taste best with a white wine sauce.

(On the other hand, if civil is just cannabis, get back to your snacks before they start talking to you.)

Bubbles

If we don't have a formalized set of informal rules then who will keep out the formal proposals to 11 year olds?

taeric
02-04-2006, 12:24 AM
How do you keep the 11 year olds out of conversation with you and your friends? How do you keep your friends from proposing to 11 year olds?

Seriously, do you have an agreed upon set of rules whenever you sit down to talk with your friends? Isn't this what a forum is all about? Especially this forum, which is (or was?) pretty much invitation only. Are we getting rid of that?

Bubbles
02-04-2006, 12:35 AM

If you walk away everytime someone you don't like comes up and starts talking to you and your friends, I truly feel sorry for you. For myself, if I am at a table with friends and someone we don't like comes up, we either ignore them or encourage them to leave. If it gets really bad, we pretty much actively prevent them from leaving.

Besides all of that, I would support limiting how people can get access to the forums. Be that with invites only or with some sort of screener. I thought the vote was for rules on posting. Not gaining access to them.

Yar, that sorta works for the crowd that's here now - and probably why that's the crowd that still posts, the problems arise when the people who dive into the drained pools start to show up :D

At least that's what I'm worried about - we had more of those when this place first opened which required more moderation.
