View Full Version : Thanksgiving plans?

What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Special plans, getting together with family, stuffing a turkey?

My kids want to have a big Thanksgiving dinner, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls, pumpkin pie, the works. I told them that if they want it they have to help make it, and all three agreed that we would do it together. I got a free turkey from a local store with a club card, which I picked up last night and put in my freezer until closer to the day, almost 20 pounds. We're going to be making pumpkin pie the day before, and some other kind because I don't like pumpkin pie.

I don't know how many people we're going to end up having there, not other family because they all live out of state, but probably some friends. I'm sure we'll have a LOT of leftovers, it's a good think we have a big freezer :D

Brings to my mind a Thanksgiving wedding almost 20 years ago, where I was helping in the kitchen for the meal afterwards. I didn't even go to the wedding, I knew the bride but not that well. I thought I got the better end of that bargian, there was a LOT of good food left over and I got to take as much as I wanted home with me afterwards.

Hmmmm, maybe I'll make Buckeyes for Thanksgiving, not exactly traditional but who cares?

Well, I've had a change in my Thanksgiving plans now. I got an invitation to a friend's house for the day, dunno why but I'm not going to argue the point. They are very religious people, and no doubt will make a bit of an attempt to convert me, but I don't mind much because they really are great people and when I make it clear that I'm not interested they don't push it beyond that.

My kids still want me to make the pumpkin pie, so I'll make a couple to take with us. Guess I'll just keep that turkey in the freezer and bring it out for Christmas

55 year old woman. you dont want none. out of the few girls that she knew I was interested in when I lived there she virtually had an itemized list on what she didnt like about her altough she may had talked to her like 10 minutes. Both of them are rather vocal so I can see if my mom lets its out instead of being nice its going to be ugly. Im thinking way ahead of myself however, we are going out but not really dateing completely yet. about 3 more dates away from that.

I got chewed out once by my boss. I used to spray lysol behind the fan. I'm thinking that I am doing everyone else a favor. Some guy in a room downwind of my fan bitched about the lysol smell. So now I let everyone enjoy eau de mike in all its glory.

 that's the best part! If there was no harsh reaction, it wouldn't be worth the extra effort of walking around.

Personally, I love going into my boss's office and talking to him about some bullshit project or something. I drop the stench off there and then find an excuse to leave. 5 minutes later I'll hear "god dammit, not again!"
