Thanksgiving plans?

What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Special plans, getting together with family, stuffing a turkey? :eek:

My kids want to have a big Thanksgiving dinner, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls, pumpkin pie, the works. I told them that if they want it they have to help make it, and all three agreed that we would do it together. I got a free turkey from a local store with a club card, which I picked up last night and put in my freezer until closer to the day, almost 20 pounds. We're going to be making pumpkin pie the day before, and some other kind because I don't like pumpkin pie.

I don't know how many people we're going to end up having there, not other family because they all live out of state, but probably some friends. I'm sure we'll have a LOT of leftovers, it's a good think we have a big freezer :D

One day my son was looking through a cook book for something that he could make that wouldn't be too complicated, and he asked me how hard deviled eggs were to make. I told him not hard at all, but that the recipe he was looking at made it more complicated than it is. He asked me how I made them, so I cooked the eggs, gave him instructions, and let him take it from there, and they turned out really good. Not bad for a 9 y/o kid :cool

Well, I've had a change in my Thanksgiving plans now. I got an invitation to a friend's house for the day, dunno why but I'm not going to argue the point. They are very religious people, and no doubt will make a bit of an attempt to convert me, but I don't mind much because they really are great people and when I make it clear that I'm not interested they don't push it beyond that.

My kids still want me to make the pumpkin pie, so I'll make a couple to take with us. Guess I'll just keep that turkey in the freezer and bring it out for Christmas :cool:
